I’ve always been a person who switches up my skincare routine with the seasons. Since it’s consistently dry in LA, the fall season only means drier. For me, that translates to switching up my cleanser and moisturizer, and adding in active ingredients like hyaluronic acid, Squalene, Vitamin C and Vitamin E.
I follow a strict regimen that differs from morning to night, which I’ve rounded up below. PSA (but hoping you already know): just because it’s fall, that doesn’t mean your sunscreen usage should decline!
Morning Skincare Routine
My mornings always start with a splash of cold water to remove the oils from the night before. There are two schools of thought on the AM cleanse: to wash or not to wash. I’ve experienced the benefits of washing with cold water, which is why I’m sticking with it. If I’m working with some time, I’ll use my ice roller to quell any swelling. I then follow up with OLEHENRIKSEN’s Banana Bright Eye Creme, a light daytime oil (I’m loving this 100 Percent Pure Argan Oil Light by Josie Maran), and a combination of Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask and Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen as primers for makeup.
Evening Routine
One of my first swaps for seasonal skincare is my cleanser. I love using this Eve Lom cleansing balm because it doesn’t strip the skin of its natural oils, but does a great job of removing makeup (it actually comes with a muslin cloth for gentle exfoliation and circulation). Then, like any good student of skincare, I apply my products from lightest/thinnest to heaviest/thickest. I’ll tone with Fresh’s Rose Deep Hydration Facial Toner, apply a layer of my favorite hyaluronic acid (this one by Barbara Sturm is life-changing), lightly pat on my OLEHENRIKSEN Banana Bright Eye Creme, press in the Biossance Squalene + Vitamin C Rose Oil, gua sha with pure Vitamin E oil, and seal it all in with Volition Beauty’s Celery Green Cream. If I have a little time before bed, I also love using the Versed “Look Alive” Hydrating Plumping Face Mask before I begin my routine for an added surge of moisture!
